the cats in the basket
it's a snapshot of a still-life in a bookshelf taken a couple of years ago at the home of a friend of mine in riga. as one can see, i primary focused on the sweet letter written by a little girl to her mom.
now i notice the toy next to the letter - the cats in the basket.
a flashback: i KNOW how it feels to push them down, then they pop up giving a squeaky sound! ...
i dug in the archive of film negatives of my brother and found this filmstrip showing a little girl with the cats. it's dated: spring 1973.
the girl is about a year and a half, and her name is ieva :)

i just wanted to make sure you noticed my modest announcement (under "news") and checked out the online photography journal UYW (unless you will) issue 3. or even better - all the issues of it.
UYW is founded and edited by the australian photographer, graphic designer and "full time dreamer" (as she calls herself) heidi romano.
i've really became a fan of her work. i would describe it as intelectual (in the best sense of the word) and poetic at the same time, and i really appreciate that mixure.
take a look at her website (it is layouted by herself, btw. i love the minimalistic look)!
tales of light is heidi's blog. i would call it another online photography journal of her's (only without the beautiful design of UYW): every post introduces another contemporary photographer from all around the world - heidi's finds surfing the web.
